<p>A series of aircans (14) are arranged so that they can all be de-watered through a common communication pipe (30, 130, 131) which traverses all the cans. The communication pipe passes through all the cans and has a fluid passage (32, 33) leading off into each can (or each compartment (16, 18, 20) of each can). A fluid feed head (38) with upper and lower seals (40, 42) can be lowered down the communication pipe until the space between the seals registers with one of these feed passage (32). Forcing air through the feed head then displaces and drives out water from the can. Forcing water through the feed head introduces ballast water and compresses the air in the can.</p> |
