PURPOSE: A muffler for an air conditioner is provided to restrain the noise in a tube generated by the quick pressure change of refrigerant passing through the muffler, thereby realizing the stabilized operation of the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: A muffler for an air conditioner includes a main body(52) extended from a discharge tube of an evaporator and an end of which diameter is expanded for forming a predetermined space, an outlet tube(54) extended from a suction tube of a compressor and formed with a plurality of holes(54a) on a peripheral surface of an end to be inserted to the main body, and a flow rate controller mounted slidably in the outlet tube for opening or closing the holes, to control a refrigerant amount introduced into the outlet tube according to the pressure change of the refrigerant introduced from the main body, thereby restraining the generation of noise due to the pressure change of the refrigerant. The flow rate controller includes a piston(56) for controlling the flow rate of the refrigerant, a spring guide(58) for limiting the movement of the piston, and a spring(59) for applying elasticity to the piston toward the outside of the outlet tube.
