COMPATIBLE OPTICAL PICK-UP AND ADJUSTING METHOD FOR SETTING OPTICAL AXIS THEREOF

PURPOSE: A compatible optical pick-up and an adjusting method for setting an optical axis thereof are provided to simply set the optical axis without compensating an optical axis distance between two lights different in wavelength. CONSTITUTION: A light source(40) emits a first light(I) and a second light(II) different in wavelength and respectively appropriate for a first recording medium(30a) relatively thin and a second recording medium(30b) relatively thick. The first and second lights are emitted in the state of being separated at a predetermined gap. An optical path converting device(47) converts a proceeding path of an incident light. An objective lens(55) is arranged on an optical path between the optical path converting device and the recording media for focusing the first and second lights on the recording media. A photo detector(60) receives and detects the first and second lights reflected from the recording media and being incident via the optical path converting device.
