The assembly to produce drawn sliver has a carding station (28) with at least one unit to form the sliver material. Frequency-controlled three-phase motors drive the sliver feeds (38) at the card (28) and the drawing unit (2) of the drawing stretch (1), with a common frequency converter. The current limiter is parallel to a further breaker switch in the feed line from the frequency converter to the drawing unit (2) motor. The frequency converter has a control to set the current fed to the drawing unit motor. The material flow units of a comber and the drawing stretch are matched together to give a common operating side. A web transfer ramp is between the outflow table of the comber and the inflow table of the drawing unit (2), as a powered conveyor belt. The assembly to form the sliver material has an initial drawing stage, operated by the comber drive, which delivers a sliver to the drawing unit (2) at the drawing stage.
