Organosilicon compounds (1) are new. Organosilicon compounds of formula (1) are new. V<0>, V<1> = H, halogen, CN, 1-15C alkyl optionally having non-neighboring CH2 groups replaced by -O-, -S-, -CO-, -OCO-, -E- and/or -C?=C- and optionally substituted by halogen and/or having one CH3 group replaced by -W-SiX<1>X<2>X<3>; Y<11>-Y<14>, Y<21>-Y<24>, Y<31>-Y<34> = H, F or -W-SiX<1>X<2>X<3> whereby V<0>, V<1> and Y<11>-Y<34> are chosen such that for each molecule of formula (1) have at least one -W-SiX<1>X<2>X<3>; W = a single bond or 1-10C alkylene bridge optionally having non-neighboring CH2 groups replaced by -O-, -S-, -CO-, -OCO-, -E- and/or -C?=C- and optionally substituted by halogen; X<1>-X<3> = H, R, OR, OCOR, CN, OCN or halogen whereby at least one of X<1>-X<3> is not H; R = 1-12C alkyl optionally having at least one CH2 group replaced by -O-, -CO- and/or -CHCH-; E = CR'R or CHR'-CHR; R',R = H, 1-6C alkyl, F, Cl, Br, CF3 or CN; Z<1>, Z<2> = -CO-O-, -C2H4-, -C2F4-, -(CH2)4-, -CH2CHCHCH2-, -CH2O-, -CF2O-, -CHCH-, -CC- or a single bond; A<1>-A<3> = 1,4-cyclohexyl optionally having one or two non-neighboring CH2 groups replaced by -O- and/or -S-, 1,4-cyclohexenyl or 1,4-phenyl optionally having at least one CH group replaced by N; m = 0 or 1; n = 0-2; and m+n = /-1. Independent claims are included for: (i) a liquid crystal dielectric (II) for electrooptical display elements (III) having at least two liquid crystalline components of which at least one component is of formula (1); (ii) the liquid crystal display element (III); and (iii) a substrate, optionally having one or more coatings, treated with at least one compound of formula (1).
