A staple sheet detection mechanism of an electric stapler capable of increasing the detection accuracy and the size thereof, comprising a passage 55 for feeding a staple sheet 54 formed of straight forward staples arranged parallel to each other, wherein a forming plate 46 and a driver 48 are disposed above an anvil 56A in the passage 55 and moved to a staple 54A side to insert a formed staple 54A into copying paper positioned under the staple 54A, a sensor swing member 57 having one end part 57A coming into contact with the tip part of the staple sheet 54 in feeding direction and the other end part 57B turning on and off an interrupter detection element 63 is installed at a position above the anvil 56A where the forming plate 46 is waiting, the swing pivot 57C of the sensor 57 is provided in the passage 55 nearer to a staple sheet 54 side, and recessed parts 46A and 48A allowing the swing of the sensor 57 are provided in the forming plate 46 and the driver 48. |
