DISK UNIT AND ENVIRONMENT SPECIFICATION VIOLATION-TIME PROCESSING METHOD APPLIED TO THE UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a disk unit from getting out of order by keeping the reliability of data by automatically stopping the whole unit if disturbance violating environment specification is applied to the unit. SOLUTION: When an environment specification violation detecting circuit 201 detects an abnormal value violating the environment specification as to at least one item of the environment specification by monitoring environmental states of respective items of the environment performance of the magnetic disk unit 10 detected by a sensor group 18, an interrupt circuit 204 outputs an interrupt signal 203 to a CPU 22. On receiving it, the CPU 22 sets a BUSY bit in a status register 23 in an HDC 23 to set a lock state wherein no command is accepted from the host device 30 and forcibly stops a spindle motor 13 after moving a head 12 from a data zone 111 on a recording medium 11 to a non-data zone 112 to shut down the unit.
