PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video frame sequence holding method which holds successive data in a frame memory and eliminates visual phenomena such as 'picture regression' and 'picture skipping' of a video signal. SOLUTION: A video frame sequence can be held by performing artificial synchronous operation and performing phase matching with a peripheral circuit by forcibly correcting asynchronous operation. The reference clock frequency of write control is equalized to the reference clock frequency of readout control and then write control timing and readout control timing are prevented from fluidly matching each other, so a counter value counted with the reference clock of the write control is compared with a counter value counted with the reference clock of the readout control and the difference signal is used for control over a VCO generating a readout-side reference clock frequency, so that no problems of memory capacity is caused.
