PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional document processing system that has had to actually recorded a FAX document or the like onto paper in addition to registration to a document management section although an index is added to each document and the resulting documents can be registered to the document management section. SOLUTION: In the document processing system of this invention, recognition processing is applied to document image data acquired from an external device, attribute information with respect to the acquired document is acquired, whether or not the document is to be printed is decided according to the attribute information, when printing is decided, a print file of the document image is created, the recognition result is automatically used for an index, the document image data and the index are registered to the document management section, when the decision means decides printing, the created printer file is sent to a printer.
