<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound stopper of piano which stops sound by advancing and retreating a long-sized stop rail and surely prevents striking by hammers. SOLUTION: This sound stopper is provided with a supporting mechanism 42 and a base section 52 for holding the same not only at both ends of the stop rail 30 but in the intermediate section thereof as well and further, the base section 52 touches a rib 100 projected forward from the frame of an upright piano. The stop rail 30 can therefore be supported from the frame side as well in its central position and the stop rail 30 can be firmly supported over its overall length as compared with the conventional constitution of supporting the stop rail at its both ends. In addition, the span of the supporting positions by the supporting mechanisms can be made shorter. Consequently, the bending in the central part of the stop rail 30 can be suppressed and the striking occurring in such deflection can be effectively prevented.</p> |
