PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a temperature of a piston through a piston cooling means to burn deposit on a surface of the piston affecting stratified combustion in a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A piston temperature controller for the cylinder injection type internal combustion engine provided with the piston cooling means is provided with a control means for stopping cooling by the piston cooling means temporarily in a piston cooling region when normal operation is performed. Preferably, the control means operates on a low load and low speed rotation side in the piston cooling region. Moreover, preferably, lag control of ignition time is performed when the control means operates. Moreover, preferably, the control means operates in a homogeneous combustion region.
