The present invention is a polyurethane pressure sensitive adhesive composition which is useful in preparing articles having a layer of a pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive of the present invention can be washed with water, or optionally a detergent solution, and can then recover at least 60 percent of its original adhesion after is is dried.
