PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to resolve the gray level inversion of the LCD working in the normally black mode and improve the viewing angle. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display module to be driven in the normally black mode, and compensating films for compensating optical characteristics. The LCD module includes a first polarization plate(112) formed with a first polarization axis to polarize light supplied in a first direction to project first light, a first compensating film group(120) supplied with the first light to project second light after compensating phase differences, an LCD panel assembly including TN liquid crystal(116) for changing the direction of the second light into a second direction according to the intensity of electric fields, a second compensating film group(130) supplied with the second light for projecting third light after compensating phase differences changed while passing the liquid crystal, and a second polarization plate(114) having a second polarization axis equal to the first polarization axis and projecting fourth light of which amount is controlled according to the second direction. The compensating film for compensating the optical characteristics partially contacts the polarization plates and the others are separated from the polarization plates for improving the viewing angle according to the change of light path.
