PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile terminal that directly reads a book original and automatically faxes its image information. SOLUTION: The facsimile terminal is provided with an original read face 19 on which a book original is placed, a read head 25 to read a sheet original or a book original, and a means to maintain a communication line for a prescribed time. When reading the sheet or book original on the original read face 19, the read head 25 moves along the original read face 19.
