<p>An encoding method selection method for selecting an encoding method used for communication between a first terminal and a second terminal, each of which supports a plurality of encoding methods. A mobile terminal is also disclosed. The first terminal transmits a first signal indicating all the encoding methods supported by the first terminal, to the second terminal. The second terminal selects an encoding method satisfying a predetermined condition among the encoding methods supported by the second terminal and the encoding method specified by the first signal and transmits a second signal indicating the selected encoding method to the first terminal. The first terminal selects an encoding method to be used for communication with the second terminal, from the encoding methods indicated by the second signal and transmits a third signal indicating the selected encoding method to the second terminal.</p> |
