PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite metal cyanide complex catalyst for ring- opening polymerization of an alkylene oxide capable of producing a polyetherpolyol with low unsaturation degree at a high catalyst activity, and a method for producing the catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing the composite metal cyanide complex catalyst for ring-opening polymerization of an alkylene oxide comprises the steps of mixing an organic ligand, a metal salt and a transition metal cyanide compound, separating a solid product deposited from the obtained mixed solution, washing the solid product with water, bringing the washed solid product into contact under heating with an aqueous solution containing the organic ligand and the metal salt, and separating a solid from the slurry. The composite metal cyanide complex catalyst for ring-opening polymerization of an alkylene oxide obtained by such method is provided.
