PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic and/or melt-moldable material composition having a refractive index n and Abbe numberνexpressed by formulae (H) and (J), yellowness degree of <=10, glass transition temperature of >=80 deg.C, light transmittance of >=70% and density of <=2.0 g/cm<3> , and to provide an optical component constructed by including the above material composition. 1.45<n<=1.80...(H)ν>=200-100 n...(J). SOLUTION: This thermoplastic material composition which meets formulae (D), (E), (F) and (G) comprises a thermoplastic resin having specific physical properties and titanium oxide microparticles whose mean diameter di meets formula (C) and surface-modified with a compound of the chemical formula (1): Si(OR1 )X(R2 )4- X. 1 nm<=di <=200 nm...(C) 1.45<n2 <=1.80...(D)ν2 >=200-100 n2 ...(E) n2 >=n1 +0.01...(F) -3<=Y<=10...(G). |
