Thermoplastic composition comprises: (a) a matrix-forming thermoplastic polymer; (b) rigid nodules formed by radical polymerization; and optionally (c) a impact modifier. An Independent claim is also included for production of the composition by: (i) forming a homogeneous solution of a nodule precursor in the molten thermoplastic polymer; (ii) adding an initiator at a temperature below that at which the initiator becomes active; (iii) stirring the mixture while heating it to a temperature sufficient to cause crosslinking of the precursor and form rigid nodules; and optionally (iv) adding a impact modifier during step (i) or (ii).
