PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio/video signal reproducing device in which a password can be inputted without needing any input operation of numerals and the password can be prevented from being illegally used by the other person. SOLUTION: This audio/video signal reproducing device is provided with a data reproducing circuit 1, by which audio/video data recorded on a DVD and audio data recorded on a CD can be reproduced, a memory 11 and a control circuit 9 for registering the password number. When registering operation is performed by a user, on the basis of the acoustic data reproduced by the data reproducing circuit 1, the password is generated and registered on the memory 11 by the control circuit 9. Afterwards, when DVD reproduction starting operation is performed by the user, on the basis of the audio data reproduced by the data reproducing circuit 1, the password is generated by the control circuit 9, it is determined whether this password is matched with the registered password or not, and when they are matched with each other, the audio/video data recorded on the DVD can be reproduced. |
