PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device equipped with an envelope minimizing the internal contamination, which can provide stable characteristic. SOLUTION: This display device comprises the envelope comprising two glass substrates 1a and 1b combined and bonded together. A low-melting point glass 2 is used for the bonding of the glass base substrates 1a and 1b, and the low-melting point glass 2 is heated and fused at its melting temperature or higher in an atmosphere free from moisture, and shaped and solidified in a prescribed shape. Accordingly, the gas generated in the sealing of the glass substrates 1a and 1b can be minimized to minimize the gas quantity left in the panel, and the bad influence on panel characteristic thereby can be thus minimized.
