PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting receiver and a method for receiving data broadcasting, by which data of the data broadcasting sent from a broadcasting station can be acquired at high speed at any time, and which can easily respond to an increase request of the number of data broadcasting channels. SOLUTION: A broadcasting station 10A broadcasts only index information of a data broadcasting program to a television receiver 20A through a broadcasting channel. The television receiver 20A compares index information registered in advance to received index information, and determines the presence or absence of the renewal of the data broadcasting program. In the case that the presence of the renewal is determined, the television receiver 20A notifies the fact to the user of the television receiver 20A, and sends an acquisition request to the broadcasting station 10A via a subscriber telephone line of a public network NW, on the basis of the user's instruction. The broadcasting station 10A sends the broadcasting data of the appropriate data broadcasting program to the television receiver as a request source via the subscriber telephone line in response to the acquisition request.
