PURPOSE: A method and a system for controlling the amount of fuel in a vehicle are provided to improve a fuel consumption ratio and achieve better driving condition by controlling the amount of fuel using a MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. CONSTITUTION: A fuel control system includes a purge control solenoid valve(3) for controlling a canister depending on a condition of an engine and an engine R.P.M detecting sensor(5). A throttle position sensor(7) is provided to detect an opening degree of a throttle valve. The amount of oxygen contained in exhaust gas is detected by an oxygen sensor(9). A cooling water sensor(11) is provided to detect the temperature of cooling water. A MAP sensor(13) is provided to indirectly detect intake air pressure depending on variation of vacuum. Fuel is supplied into the engine by an injector(15). An ECU(1) controls the amount of fuel.
