IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND FRONT LIGHT

PURPOSE: An image display device and a front light are provided to improve contrast in a reflection type liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: In a reflection type liquid crystal display device, an optical pattern(39) arranged in a light guide plate(32) and formed in a V-groove shape in section is inclined with respect to the advancing direction of light within the light guide plate when the optical pattern is seen from a direction perpendicular to the light guide plate. Thus, the light reflected on the optical pattern is reflected toward the back face side in a slanting direction.
