PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which can reduce light loss in guiding and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The optical switch 1 is provided with an optical waveguide 14 formed on a substrate 10, a fluid channel 9 in which a fluid is circulated across the optical waveguide 14, a switching member 3 arranged in the fluid channel 9, and a cover member 16 to seal the upper surface of the fluid channel 9. The optical switch 1 changes a direction of propagation of light passing through the optical waveguide 14 by moving the switching member 3 by the circulation of the fluid between a position on the optical path of the optical waveguide 14 and a position retreated from the optical path of the optical waveguide 14. The height H of the fluid channel 9 is set to be 40μm or more. |
