PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate deficiencies due to deviation of the alignment of thin film transistors or capacitive elements. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with thin film transistors in respective pixel areas of the liquid crystal-side surface of one substrate of respective substrates which are disposed oppositely across liquid crystal and each of these thin film transistor is constituted of a gate electrode to be connected to a gate signal line, a semiconductor layer to be laminated on the gate electrode with an insulator film, a drain electrode to be connected to a drain signal line on the semiconductor layer and a source electrode to be connected to a pixel electrode and also the semiconductor layers have periodic rugged shapes in sections having respectively a width wider than that of the source electrode at least on a side from where the source electrodes are drawn out.
