PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of instantaneously detecting the abnormal driving of a lens and rapidly taking appropriate measures. SOLUTION: This optical device is equipped with driving devices 7 and 8 driving (for example, zooming driving) the lens 5 in response to a lens driving command, a detecting device 6 detecting the movement of the lens 5, a decision device 1 judging a situation as the abnormal driving when the device 6 detects the movement of the lens in a state where the lens driving signal is not given and outputting an abnormal driving signal, and a driving controller 1 controlling the driving device 7 so that the lens 5 may be driven to a previously set reference position in response to the abnormal driving signal.
