The traffic light control regulates at least two crossing traffic flows and comprises at least two traffic lights stopping or releasing a traffic flow. It incorporates devices for the detection of participants in the traffic flow. Equipment controls the traffic lights, which functions on the basis of a fuzzy logic. This logic is connected with the detection devices. At a typical cross-roads, there can be four different traffic flows (1,2,3,4). Each road forming the crossing has a traffic light (5,6,7,8) which regulates in two opposing directions. The traffic flow directions receive in principle a release period in the sequence 1,2,3,4,1, etc.. If no traffic participant is detected, no release period is granted. Each release period has a fixed release period of six seconds and a prolonged release period of fourteen seconds, which means if there are still participants in the traffic flow, the release period can be extended to a maximum of twenty seconds.
