METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method and a producing apparatus for an optical fiber preform which utilizes a vapor-phase deposition method such as an inside chemical vapor-phase deposition method. SOLUTION: The producing apparatus includes: a cylinder type deposition tube which has a first end part for introducing a raw material gas and a second end part for exhausting the gas, a first heat source which is mounted on a guide for forming a first high-temperature region in the inner part of the deposition tube by heating the outer peripheral face of the deposition tube, a second heat source which is mounted on the guide being separated from the first heat source along the longitudinal direction of the tube at a prescribed distance for forming a second high-temperature region in the tube by heating the outer peripheral face of the tube, and a heat source moving part which moves the first and the second heat source as keeping the prescribed distance between the heat sources.
