PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst particle that has inorganic fine particles with the photocatalystic activity such as titanium oxide, zinc oxide and the like supported and immobilized directly on the surface of a synthetic calcium carbonate and that has decompositon capability, deodorizing capability and the like of an anti-microbial filler or a deleterious material, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst is obtained by adding inorganic fine particles with the photocatalytic activity and allowing them to coexist in the carbonation reacting step of synthetic calcium carbonate production, and having the inorganic fine particles supported and immobilized directly on the surface of the synthetic calcium carbonate.
