The automobile has a heat transfer medium used for transferring the waste heat generated by the engine (1) to the passenger compartment, with a setting element for selecting the required temperature in the passenger compartment and a regulating and control unit (12) controlling a throttle element (8) for throttling the air feed to the engine dependent on the position of the setting element and the temperature of the heat transfer medium.
