The pavilion-type tent comprises a fixed supporting construction and an upper structure with a tarpaulin (18). The tarpaulin is fastened to a centrally located mast (12) and when the mast is raised into the operating position the tarpaulin is stretched out in umbrella fashion. When the mast is lowered into the transporting position the tent assumes a compact constructional shape. The tarpaulin is attached to struts (15) fastened to the supporting construction to pivot around a hinge point (19).
