<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the visibility of a driver by alternatively lighting an incandescent lamp when a discharge lamp is extinguished due to generation of load dump. SOLUTION: In a vehicle lamp device 1, the discharge lamp 7 forms a light source for low beam, and a light source for the traveling beam or a light source (incandescent lamp) 3 as an auxiliary lamp is used for an alternative light source. If it is detected that the input voltage from a power source exceeds the threshold when only the discharge lamp is lit, the incandescent lamp is automatically lit. When the light source 3 for the traveling beam is alternatively used, dimming is performed or the irradiation direction is set downward of the horizontal direction.</p> |
