PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting method of a gasifying melting furnace wherein an instrument located downstream of the gasifying melting furnace, e.g., a first bag filter, is prevented from being burned due to burned char. SOLUTION: There is provided the starting method for the gasifying melting furnace 5, 8 comprising a fluidized bed gasifying furnace 5 for producing combustible gas m and a melting furnace 8 for burning combustible gas. The starting method comprises the processes of starting the melting furnace, measuring temperature in the melting furnace, and starting the fluidized bed gasifying furnace after the temperature in the melting furnace reaches a predetermined one. The predetermined temperature is one where char mixed in fluidized sand c in the fluidized bed gasifying furnace and separated from the fluidizing sand, and further sent to the melting furnace completes burning in the melting furnace.
