PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external wall reforming method using an excellently workable lateral furring strip and allowing vertical ventilation and provide a siding board used for it. SOLUTION: In this outside wall reforming method, a plurality of the siding boards 3 are fixed to an existing external wall 1 via the lateral furring strip 2 while being fitted to each other. At least one of the upper end edge part and the lower end edge part of the siding board 3 is fitted to the end edge part of the adjacent other siding board 3 via watertight fitting and connected and fixed along the longitudinal direction of the lateral furring strip 2. The vertical ventilation is allowed via a vent hole 5 formed in a connecting and fixing part 4.
