CHROMIUM-CONTAINING OXIDE, PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chromium-containing oxide which has adsorbability to nitrogen oxides and oxidizability to nitrogen monoxide, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The chromium-containing oxide is obtained by removing at least a part of alkylamine from a composite body having a specified metallic oxide base composition, and consisting of the regular array of an alkylamine and chromium oxide surrounding the alkylamine or further silica and/or other polyvalent metal oxide, and having an X-ray diffraction (CuKα) peak at a diffraction angle of 2θ=1.0 to 5.0 degrees. The chromium oxide has a BET(Brunauer-Emett-Teller) specific surface area of >=5 m<2> /g, and fine pores.
