PURPOSE: A hermetic reciprocating compressor is provided to reduce the vibration and noise, the booting voltage and the power consumption by controlling sectional areas of two paths of an adaptor and the length of the adaptor. CONSTITUTION: A hermetic reciprocating type compressor includes a cylinder block(31), a cylinder head(33) attached to the cylinder block via a valve plate(32) for forming a discharge chamber(36), a first discharge muffler(53) communicated with the discharge chamber via discharge flow paths(51,52) formed in the valve plate and the cylinder block, and a second discharge muffler(55) communicated with the first discharge muffler via an adaptor(54) at a side and connected to a discharge tube(56) at the other side, wherein the adaptor includes two or more paths(54a,54b) in the middle and the paths are joined together into a single path at both ends.
