PURPOSE: A facsimile mail receiving method in a mailing system is provided to selectively receive plural facsimile mails in various ways and manage the mails according to a sequence number and a receipt number. CONSTITUTION: A mailing system checks whether a facsimile mail is received(211). A controller stores the facsimile mail in a memory unit and analyzes the facsimile mail to detect facsimile mail management information(212). The controller detects a mail box corresponding to the facsimile mail, assigns a number to it, and stores it in a designated region(213). The controller assigns a receipt number to the facsimile mail and stores it in a designated region(214). The controller detects a message type of the facsimile mail and stores it in a designated region(215). The controller assigns a receipt time to the facsimile mail and stores it in a designated region(216). The controller assigns a dial number of a transmitting party to the facsimile mail and stores it in a designated region(217). The controller detects the number of pages of the facsimile mail and stores it in a designated region(218).
