PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having the high dimensional accuracy and securing the shielding property. SOLUTION: First, second and third leg parts 19, 20, 21 and notches 35a-35e are formed by mechanical work. Since lead wires 4a, 5a of a recording/ reproducing coil 4 and an erase coil 5 are pulled out through the notches 35a, 35b, the need to arrange a gap of the bottom side of a back yoke, which is required in the conventional technology for pulling out the lead wires is eliminated. Thus, the shape of the back yoke 3A is simplified, the dimensional accuracy is improved and also the inflow of a magnetic field from the outside through the gap of the bottom side of the back yoke is eliminated, thereby the influence of the external magnetic field is reduced. By finishing the first, second and third leg parts 19, 20, 21 with the mechanical work, the dimensional accuracy is improved as compared with the case of finishing by only the mold, then the clearance between the recording/reproducing coil 4 and the erase coil 5 is reduced.
