The device has at least one electromagnet with a magnet coil (18,19) and a cooling device with at least one cooling channel (13,14) arranged on a coil carrier (10,110 for the magnet coil. The cooling channel(s) can be made in one piece with the coil carrier. The coil carrier can be made from a piece of sheet and the cooling channel can be made by shaping the piece of sheet.
