PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer being loaded with ink cartridges in arbitrary combination in which the number of printable sheets can be calculated based on the residual quantity of ink. SOLUTION: The printer 10 acquires the residual quantity of ink and ink color information stored in a loaded ink cartridge and calculates the usable quantity of each color ink. When a plurality of ink cartridges of the same color are loaded, the sum is employed as the usable quantity of ink. The number of printable sheets is then calculated based on the usable quantity of ink thus calculated. The method for calculating the usable quantity of ink is altered depending on the print system of the printer 10. |
