PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of the release work of a lance. SOLUTION: A cavity 21 for inserting a terminal metal fitting 10 from the rear and a retainer-installing hole 26 for installing a retainer 40, formed integrally with the lance 43 from below are opened and arranged in a housing 20. The retainer 40 allows insertion-extraction of the terminal metal fitting 10. The lance 43 can move between a temporary locking position elastically lockable on a stabilizer 14 of the terminal metal fitting 10 and a regular locking position locked on an object part to be locked 16, when the lance 43 enters a clearance recessed part 15 of the terminal metal fitting 10. A release groove 62, being a part of a release space 61, is cut out and arranged on an extension plate 46 of the retainer 40. When removing the inserted terminal metal fitting 10, the release space 61 is secured between the retainer 40 and a hole edge front part of the retainer-installing hole 26 with the retainer 40 as a temporary locking position, the lance 43 is pressed by inserting a releasing tool 60 into this releasing space 61 from a lower outside part, and the terminal metal fitting 10 is extracted, while releasing the locking state of the lance 43 and the stabilizer 14.
