PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive equivalent circuit capable of preventing the divergence of tap coefficients even at the time of inputting a reproduction signal from a non-recording medium and a reproducing device using the adaptive equivalent circuit. SOLUTION: This adaptive equivalent circuit is provided with transversal filters(FIR) 31, 32, and 33 to which a digital signal is inputted, a signal identifying means for identifying signals from the outputs of the FIR 31, 32, and 33, a subtracting means 36 for calculating a difference between the outputs of the FIR 31, 32, and 33 and the output of the signal identifying means, and an arithmetic means 34 for calculating the rate of a specific signal based on the output of the signal identifying means, and for, when the calculated rate is within a prescribed range, non-updating the tap coefficients of the FIR 31, 32, and 33, and for, in the other case, adaptively calculating the tap coefficients based on the output of the subtracting means 36.
