PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the state of divided units constituted of battery modules independently of each other with the use of inexpensive batteries, lightening the load on the battery ECU, to improve the safety and reliability of the unit in collision as well as lessening the error of detection caused by noises. SOLUTION: The power unit for an automobile comprises battery packs connected to a plurality of divided units in series, a plurality of battery state detection circuits 9 connected to the respective divided units, and a battery ECU 8 connected to the respective battery state detection circuits 9 via an external communication bus 10. The battery state detection circuits 9 are equipped with a voltage detector, A/D convertor, units arithmetic circuit and communication circuit respectively. The battery state detection circuit 9 detects the state of each divided unit in the unit arithmetic circuit and transmits the detected state of the divided unit to the battery ECU 8 via the external communication bus 10. |
