The plate link chain consists of parallel chain strands consisting of a series of inner (10) and outer (11) link plates. The inner plates have holes each to accommodate a bush (14) connecting the inner plates of the opposite lying chain strand. In the holes of the inner plates the transitions between straight sections and curved sections have a widening orientated radially outwards in undercut fashion and designed with a radius. The two outer transitions in the tensile load direction are provided with the aforesaid widening, or all four transitions in the hole have a widening.
