PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polycarbonate resin excellent in heat resistance, optical characteristics and adhesion property to metal which is useful to a liquid crystal panel, OPC binder, optical memory card, optical disc, various vapor deposition films, vapor deposition plastic reflection mirror and lens or the like. SOLUTION: The new aromatic polycarbonate resin having, as a main structure unit, a specific structural unit represented by formula (1) [wherein, R<1> to R<3> are each independently an alkyl group, aryl group, cycloalkyl group, alkoxy group, carboxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group or acyl group; R<4> are R<5> are each independently a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group, cycloalkyl group, alkoxy group, carboxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group or acyl group or they are bound to each other to form a double bond or a cyclic organic group] and its production method.
