The invention relates to methods and to device for the identification and/or verification of line textures such as, for example, fingerprints. The methods are characterized by generating a contour image from a halftone image and by analyzing the contour profile within the contour image. A direction image can be derived from the contour image. The contour image further allows for the determination of local features of the line texture. A feature comparison can be carried out based on the extracted local features. |
