PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a catalyst having high activity even in steam reforming of dimethyl ether as a self-heat supplying-type reaction when hydrogen is produced by reacting dimethyl ether with steam, and to provide a method for producing a hydrogen containing gas, by which the gas can be easily produced using a compact device. SOLUTION: The catalyst for reforming dimethyl ether is prepared by mixing a precursor mixture containing copper, zinc and aluminum and activated alumina.
