PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tamper which can easily break hard ground in muddy water, especially ground directly under its cutting edges. SOLUTION: The tamper of which the weight 6 is hung down from a crane for breaking ground with the plural blades provided at its lower end includes a guide member 2 provided above the weight 6 and along its axis, and a ram weight 1 having a thru hole through which to move up and down along the guide member 2 and vertically movably hung down by a wire or the like passing through the guide member 2. The ram weight 1 is repeatedly dropped on the weight 6 to give it impacts, facilitating the blades 9 to easily break even hard ground by their vibrations.
