PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter for black-and-white picture signals and a black-and-white-picture processing system using the same converter wherein when so inputting a black-and-white picture signal to a video monitor as to display it on the video monitor or when so inputting the black-and-white picture signal to a video deck as to record it in the video deck, the deterioration of a picture quality which is caused by the picture signal passing through an Y/C separation circuit in these video appliances is prevented by a simple and inexpensive configuration. SOLUTION: In the converter for black-and-white picture signals which has a composite-video-signal inputting terminal and an Y/C separation outputting terminal, the signal line of the composite-video-signal inputting terminal is so connected with the Y-signal line of the Y/C separation outputting terminal, and the ground line of the composite-video-signal inputting terminal is so connected with the ground lines of the respective signals of the Y/C separation outputting terminal as to constitute the converter for black-and-white picture signals out of a cable and the connectors of both its ends.
