SPEED-LIMITED IP FAX METHOD AND A METHOD FOR ACHIEVING GATEWAY SPEED LIMITATION IN THE IP FAX

A speed-limited IP fax method is disclosed, in which the highest speed at which the called gateway allows to pass is set, after the call connection is established, the called facsimile machine transmits digital identification signal frame which contains the highest fax speed that the called facsimile machine supports, the called gateway compares the highest fax speed that the called facs imile machine supports with the set highest speed at which the called gateway allows to pass, selects the lower to put into the frame and transmits it to the master call facsimile machine, the master call facsimile machine itself supports, takes out the lowest as the highest speed at which the message will be transmitted, then transmits the message, confirms, releases the call connection. It can limit the highest fax speed with the gateway to improve the image quality when the network is degraded. The invention also proposes a method for achieving gateway speed limitation in the IP fax.
